Enrique Infante and Dejavu Latin Fusion Rhythms

Host Album Release Show On May 5 at Woodlands Tavern


Enrique Infante and his band Dejavu Latin Fusion Rhythms will perform a three-set show honoring Infante’s first solo album Canciones Ajenas(“Someone else’s songs”) on Saturday, May 5 (Cinco de Mayo) at Woodlands Tavern. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., admission is $10, and copies of the album will be available for $10.

Main Stage

Enrique Infante and Dejavu

Set I: 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Set 2: 10:00 to 11:00 p.m.

Set 3: Midnight to 2:00 a.m.

Second Stage

Vermont Joy Parade (Vermont): 9:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Blood Roots Barter (Kentucky): 11:00 p.m. to midnight

Released by Dejavu Latin Music Productions, Canciones Ajenas was recorded between 2009 and 2012 at studios in Columbus, Mexico, and Peru. Infante and Dejavu combine pop and rock with Latin American and Caribbean rhythms, such as salsa, festejo, mambo, cumbia, vallenato, timba, bossa nova, and rumba. Members of Dejavu include Enrique Infante (lead vocals, guitar, and percussion); Kimberly Hollingsworth (vocals); Jeff Crisafulli (bass guitar); Steven Bustos (drums); Bill Hilt (lead guitar); Tino Casanova (percussion); Carlos Durán (percussion); Sergio Ibañez (Cuatro, background vocals, and guitar); Tim Magree (keyboards); Evan Oberla (trombone); Jason Branscum (trombone); and Tim Perdue (trumpet).

Infante was recently announced as a winner in the 200Columbus Celebrate Columbus in Song contest commemorating the Bicentennial.

Woodlands Tavern is located at 1200 West Third Avenue in Grandview.

Press Conference

A press conference will be held on May 5 from 7:00 to 7:45 p.m. at Woodlands Tavern, offering reporters interview opportunities, free copies of the album, and a signed poster.

About Enrique Infante

Enrique Infante is a Peruvian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who moved to Columbus in 1998. He founded the band Dejavu Latin Fusion Rhythms in 2004, and the group released the record Abriendo Caminos in 2006. Before moving to Columbus, Enrique played with the Peruvian bands Los Mojarras and Pukakuntur. In 2010, he received El Premio Orgullo Peruano (Peruvian Pride Award) for his work as a successful artist outside of Peru.

Winners Chosen in Bicentennial
Celebrate Columbus in Song Contest


(Columbus, Ohio)— 200Columbus, the organization leading the efforts for a citywide celebration of Columbus’ 200th birthday, announced the 13 finalists from the Celebrate Columbus In Song contest. The finalists were voted in by public vote from Feb. 14 through March 23.

There were more than 4,600 voters casting nearly 10,000 votes to choose the top 13 artists from the 29 finalists.   The winning entries, along with the Bicentennial Anthem composed by Milton Ruffin, the principal at Ft. Hayes High School, will be featured on a CD that will be released in June.  

The winners are: The Castros, Here In Columbus;  Ceezar, In My Town; Elijah Aaron, The Buckeye City;Donna Mogavero, The Streets Where I Live; Enrique Infante, Colors of Columbus; HellNKeller, My City; Joey Hebdo, Columbus and Color T.V.; Mike and the Black Ties, Dear Columbus;Mike Wojniak, The Rhodes Tower; Miller-Kelton, Parsons Ave.; Ruvane Kurland, I'm Home; Truck-Stop Poets, 5 Below On High Street; and Willie Phoenix, Good Day Columbus.

The 13 winners will each receive a cash prize of $500 and an opportunity for professional recording and production time at the WCBE-FM or Jazz Academy studios.  Winners will also be connected with performance opportunities at Columbus events and festivals during 2012.

Last December a call went out seeking local musicians of all ages, genres and skill levels for original songs that best captured the spirit of Central Ohio. The Celebrate Columbus in Song contest received a total of 123 entries, representing more than 10 genres. These initial submissions were narrowed down to 29 finalists for the public voting round. 

Columbus Bicentennial 2012 is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to developing a robust and transformative commemoration of the city’s bicentennial in 2012 that is a catalyst for greater economic prosperity. The initiative is referred to as 200Columbus the Bicentennial. The goal for 200Columbus is a community that is more inspired, proud and engaged in their progress and the increasing vitality of Columbus. This will lead to a community that is better recognized locally and globally as one of the best places to live and work.
